The Full Story

N J Edmunds

I have always wanted to write.

Ever since I was a child I was fascinated by putting words on paper -

and reading them back doubled the pleasure.

Now I can finally call myself "an author", and I couldn't be more proud.

Nick's career before writing

Nick Edmunds grew up in Fife, and attended the University of Aberdeen from 1976-82, graduating MBChB. After four years of hospital posts, he qualified as a GP. Initially a GP partner in Aberdeen for ten years, he then moved south to complete another 22 years as a GP partner in Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire. There he enjoyed teaching medical students and running the provision of out-of-hours GP care in the area. On retirement, he settled in Stirling and set about writing for pleasure.

In his long career in medicine Nick encountered such an array of human experiences that when he retired his head was full of stories. These helped inspire him when it came to writing fiction. An initial short story started as a casual hobby, but soon grew arms and legs until a full-length novel emerged. Miles Away, his debut crime thriller, was published by Bear Press in July 2022.

Nick’s interest in people and their minds means psychology has a heavy influence on his writing, and like our brains, his stories are full of twists and turns. A sequel to Miles Away is in process.
